nothing NEW under the sun

Green Bay was discovered WAY before almost anything else in The New World. When Frenchman Jean Nicolet came ashore, everything was new (except, of course, the Indians who were waiting for him = see illustration above).

FAST FORWARD 350 Years or so: a modern day 'Gene Nicolet landed on The Frozen Tundra in 1979; he figured everything would be really, really old.

WRONG! 'Gene discovered everything was really, really NEW:
a NEW Zoo; a NEW Technical College; a NEW Arts Council.

He discovered NEWCAP; NEWIST; NEW ENT; NEW Tents;
NEW Tires; even NEW Pest Solutions...

The new Nicolet had all this NEW stuff - along with his new job at a new company. "Moving to the edge of the earth wasn't going to be so bad after all," he said.

Eventually, Gene discovered that everything was NOT new; he discovered that N.E.W. stood for: Northeastern Wisconsin! Yeah, the NEW Zoo wasn't, and there are no new solutions for pests, either!

The natives said, "Welcome to the NEW World, Gene, but there's not that much new. Things don't change."

That's an understatement, and BEST illustrated by a recent study of CEOs and Business Owners: The Nicolet Bank Business Pulse is a quarterly study of CEOs and Business Owners on the Tundra. Around The New Year - for the past 12 years or so - we've asked CEOs to share their top business priorities for the year ahead.

For like, the 12th year in a row, the TOP Business Priority in 2012 is: "Increase Sales and Revenue." Nothing new in NEW!

Happy New Year.
